What are CSM Journey Groups?

Cornerstone Student Ministry Journey Groups are small, grade and gender-specific groups of students sharing Christ and sharing life together! We meet weekly to study the Word of God, to share, and to support and encourage one another in Christ, under the oversight of adult leaders who are mentors and facilitators for the group. CSM Journey Groups are the key to connecting with other students and building friendships in Christ. This connectedness is an important part of growing in relationship with Jesus Christ and staying close to His Church at Cornerstone. These groups are where the real ministry of Cornerstone Student Ministry happens!

When and Where?

Middle School Journey Groups are included in our time together during LIFT on Sunday night from 4-6pm in the Student Center. High School Journey Groups meet on Wednesday nights from 6-8pm in various host homes.  Group discussion is based on the LIFT and ASCEND study from that week.
If you have any questions or if you are unsure of which group to join or where your group meets, feel free to contact the church office at 843.395.1370 or email us at students@exit137.org.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

How Long Do They Last?

Like the school calendar, CSM Journey Groups run on a semester schedule, so we have Fall & Spring sessions. CSM Journey Groups do not meet during the summer and Christmas breaks. During these times, we have other events focused on missions, spiritual growth, and building community. Check out the CSM Event Calendar for more details.

What is the Required Commitment?

We ask our students to commit to attend their Journey Groups weekly and to come prepared to share the challenges and joys of life with their group. Since students will be sharing openly, confidentiality is an important aspect of CSM Journey Groups. What is said in the group must stay in the group, provided it is does not jeopardize the safety of our students or others.

Students are encouraged to take solid notes during LIFT & ASCEND and bring those notes with them to their Journey Group session so they are ready to engage in the conversation.

What Will We Study?

Each week for both Middle School and High School, there will be a series of questions based on the previous message from LIFT and ASCEND. Together, each small group will discuss the answers to these questions, while talking through the associated biblical texts. The goal is for our students to gain a solid understanding of biblical principles and to learn to apply those principles to real life.

How Do I Sign Up For A Journey Group?

Unlike adult Journey Groups, students do not need to register to attend CSM Journey Groups.  If you are unsure of which group to join or where your group meets, contact us at students@exit137.org.

Groups are gender-specific and organized by grade. The targeted maximum size of a group is 15 students, but groups may exceed that size as interested students join or are invited by friends. Students are strongly encouraged to invite their friends to their Journey Groups.
