In our student ministry this year, we have been studying Jesus' 7 "I am" statements in the Gospel of John. It's been a great time for us to consider the ways Jesus describes himself and reveals his true identity as God's Son. Jesus regularly demonstrates his power and sufficiency to his disciples and explains to them how he is the one who is able and that enables them to be able to honor God with their life.
We can tend to forget that Jesus later calls his disciples to go make new disciples in all the world and he reminds them that they are not alone. This is a daunting task for the handful of followers there. The disciples will be empowered by the Holy Spirit to do what Christ called them to do. Jesus doesn't desert his disciples. He reminds them of who they are in light of who he is!
Remember that Jesus has called you to the same mission as the disciples - to make new disciples. He has also promised that he will go with you and that the Holy Spirit will empower you. God loves to use people who seem to be under-equipped to do a job so that God is the one who receives the glory from it.
As we continue in Who's You One, remember that God has equipped you to be faithful to the mission he has called you to do. Rely on his power and give him the glory in it.
In Christ,
